Catalog making in MS Word can add
tremendous power and features to provide tremendous flexibility in
catalog making approach. Catalog design settings and theme can be
configured at two stages:
Prior to Publishing Catalog in MS Word
After Publishing Catalog in MS Word
Once Catalog making process is done and MS
Word document contains Catalog, it can be suitably used for
various purposes as well
Making Printed Catalog in MS Word
document itself
Making Printed Catalog in PDF format
Using it as digitally distributable
catalog for sales campaign, releasing catalog supplement,
emailing customer driven mini catalog to customers etc
How to configure
Catalog Design Settings Configuration for MS Word Driven
Presentation
From Catalog Management Window, select catalog
from catalog browse pane and click Word Catalog Setting button or
click Menu - (CatalogMaker - MS Word Catalog Design Settings).
Upon clicking, a new window for Design / Theme Configuration
Setting for MS Word Catalog Presentation will open.

This window is segregated into 4 panes:
Catalog Contents
Under this pane, user can configure catalog
content structure for its catalog presentation. User is required
to select / deselect the following content options:
Catalog Index (consisting of listing -
categorized thumbnail view, catalog item detail page and
customer response sheet)
Cover Page (User can then edit this
cover page from MS Word)
Company information Page (created using
enterprise information setting)
Catalog Collection (thumbnail view) -
User can configure catalog collection view on the following
two basic criterion through option selection:
Catalog Products detail view - User can
choose to either build catalog item detail page within catalog
(available through thumbnail clicking or through catalog
index) OR can select to integrate it with web link (wherein,
upon thumbnail clicking, it will take catalog viewer to web
catalog / respective catalog item detail page). In order to
use web catalog integration, user will need to provide web URL
for catalog item detail page in catalog item content window..
Template

Under this pane, user can select custom word
template file for its catalog. While building custom template
user need to set/create the following tags (to be used by
application while building catalog presentation in MS Word).
Thumbnail

Under this pane, User may configure thumbnail
view settings:
thumbnail table column numbers for each
catalog page
thumbnail size
catalog item contents to be displayed
along with thumbnail graphic (select the catalog item contents
to be displayed)
User must carefully,
plan column size, number of columns and contents, for the MS
Word page size limitations; and should set it to keep its view
proper and meaningful. Application also resets thumbnail size
with the number of thumbnail columns provided.
Item Detail

1Under this pane, User may configure catalog
item's detail page settings:
catalog item detail page structure
(currently two formats are supported. First one provides
contents below catalog item's graphics; and second one
provides basic info in RHS column with the large graphic with
detailed description below the graphic. Catalog Item's large
graphic is automatically resized to fit into MS Word page.
catalog item contents to be displayed
in catalog item detail page (select the catalog item contents
to be displayed). Catalog Item name/title and code/sku is
default inclusion in content.
User must carefully
plan contents, for the MS Word page size limitations;
and should set it to keep its view proper and meaningful.
Application supports rich text format (including tables) for
catalog item description. Please note that this setting will
not be applicable, if user has opted for web link to catalog
item detail page (read with configuration setting).
Configuration of Catalog Design (Colors / Font / Background
Graphic), After publishing Catalog in MS Word:
User can conveniently use MS Word editor to configure catalog's
design setting. User will require to use simple MS Word formatting
tool or for uniform application, can use:

Style and Formatting Tools in MS Word (MS Word - Menu - Format -
Styles and Formatting)
-
Theme Tools in MS Word (MS Word - Menu - Format - Themes)
-
Edit Word Catalog document's header / footer with MS Word editor to
suit its catalog.
User can manually insert its custom content in such MS Word document
and explore the power of MS Word to suit its catalog design /
contents / theme, for enterprise identity and objective.
